Flyer front:
The Weight of the World
On June 20, 2003, Norma McCorvey took the most courageous step of her life.
Norma McCorvey, better known as the “Jane Roe” plaintiff in the 1973 Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision that opened the floodgates of abortion in the United States, officially petitioned the United States Supreme Court to reverse its infamous decision.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Norma spoke to reporters afterwards and told them that she felt as if “weight of the world” had been lifted from her shoulders….
Flyer back:
Meet Jane Roe
Norma McCorvey, the “Jane Roe” of Roe vs. Wade, was 21-years-old and pregnant for the third time when she made the decision to seek an abortion – but that was against Texas state law that affirmed the sanctity of life. Attorneys quickly learned of Norma's situation and found in her a willing plaintiff to help usher in abortion on demand.
Few people knew that Norma has already given birth and had placed the baby for adoption by the time the Supreme Court announced its 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision. Fewer people knew the secret pain that Norma held in her heart.
Thirty years later, Norma McCorvey – not Jane Roe—is a new person because of forgiveness she found in Christ.
Norma is not alone – there are millions of women throughout the United States who are struggling with the consequences of past decisions, just as there are millions of men, family members and friends who share in the pain.
And there are over 40 million unborn babies who have lost their lives through abortion.
What can you do to help others find the forgiveness that removed the “weight of the world” from Norma McCorvey's shoulders?
It's true – hearts and minds can be changed. Just ask Norma McCorvey
